Intero Biosystems Wins Startup Battlefield 200 at TechCrunch Disrupt 2026
Intero Biosystems emerged as the winner of the TechCrunch Disrupt 2026 Startup Battlefield 200, claiming the Disrupt Cup and a $100,000 equity-free prize. Apate finished as runner-up after the two companies reached the final round of a competition that began with 200 startups selected from thousands of applications.
How the competition unfolded

The Startup Battlefield 200 cohort pitched across three days. From that group, 20 finalists advanced, and TechCrunch’s editorial team then narrowed the field to five companies. Those five competed for the grand prize and the Disrupt Cup. Intero Biosystems and Apate ultimately placed first and second, respectively.
Showcase Stage standouts
Beyond the main competition, the Showcase Stage recognized standout companies across industry groups. The honored startups included:
- Lola Vision Systems — a full-stack AI platform combining sensor fusion, secure communications and real-time inference, with purpose-built silicon planned.
- Krokos Bio — focused on growing saffron more cheaply and reliably.
- Rein Security — building a security layer for custom enterprise AI agents.
- Lumai — developing optical compute for scalable AI inference.
- Uhura Bionics — creating a bionic larynx designed for singing, laughing and emotion translation.
- Maka — producing AI-powered, developmentally curated shows for children.
Legali AI takes Best Booth
Legali AI won the Best Booth award for its all-pink, female-focused presentation. The company is building a trauma-informed AI legal companion aimed at middle-class users and AI-native firms, with particular attention to women who have faced abuse. Visitors to the booth wrote empowering notes on a banner, and founder Ira Puteri coordinated pink outfits for the team each day.
Spirit of Disrupt goes to Shogher Atanesyan
Shogher Atanesyan, founder and CEO of Ardook Data, received the Spirit of Disrupt award. Organizers described her as the most selfless founder in five years, and the decision was unanimous. Atanesyan first encountered Disrupt as a volunteer in 2023. She later applied after requesting a Social Impact category in the event app.
Her contributions went well beyond her own company. Atanesyan organized student volunteers to help with booth duties, coordinated shipped items to avoid high costs, hosted a party for founders at her home, and supported other founders through Discord and weekly calls.
Ardook Data itself collects household training data from a paid caregiver network and sells that data to physical AI and robotics companies. The review team liked the concept, though the Spirit of Disrupt honor recognized Atanesyan’s broader role in the community.
A competition built for visibility
The Startup Battlefield 200 remains a central feature of Disrupt, giving early-stage companies a platform to pitch investors, partners and the broader tech industry. This year’s edition combined the main pitch competition with awards for Showcase Stage presentations, booth design and community spirit, reflecting the range of ways startups can stand out over the three-day event.
